What makes the Help Center different is that it focuses not on services but on individuals.  People in crisis may know little about community resources and are often unable to find their way through the inevitable maze of paperwork and regulations. What they need most is a caring and informed advocate who will:

  • listen compassionately.
  • understand the full scope of their problems, not just the immediate crisis.
  • determine the resources that are available.
  • help to fill out applications.
  • work with landlords and other creditors.
  • bring service agencies together to focus on the needs of individuals.
  • provide a phone and a place to make calls.
  • provide transportation to appointments.
  • provide case management services.

The Center is the vision of the Lander Ministerial Association, an ecumenical group who realized that people often fail to obtain help, even when community resources are available. They may be sent from agency to agency in a demeaning and exhausting attempt to find community resources, which may not fit their needs. Through the Help Center, people can make just “one stop,” meet with our advocate, and discover all the services for which they are eligible
The Lander One Stop Help Center connects people in need  to services and other  life-altering resources.
